We chose to use blockchain technology for two main reasons: incentivization and the need for data verification and traceability.
First, blockchain enables a transparent and fair reward system. Silencio tokens are used to incentivize user participation. This decentralized approach aligns user interests with the network’s growth and future governance.
More importantly, the blockchain provides an immutable data verification and traceability ledger. It ensures that all data on the Silencio network is authentic, verifiable, and securely attributed, building trust and integrity that traditional methods cannot match.
The short answer: peaq focuses on enabling the machine economy.
The technical answer: The selection of the peaq network as Silencio's Layer 1 blockchain was a strategic decision based on peaq's advanced technology, including
its high decentralization score, speed, and low-cost transactions, which are critical for supporting DePINs such as Silencio. Peaq’s unique device identities (DIDs) provide secure, verifiable identities for devices such as smartphones and IoT sensors, which are essential for decentralized data collection.
Peaq’s scalable, low-latency infrastructure supports real-time data processing, essential for Silencio’s global operations. The network’s low transaction costs and speed make it highly efficient. At the same time, its machine economy framework is specifically tailored to support the success of DePINs and perfectly aligns with Silencio’s vision of autonomous data sharing and reward distribution. Finally, peaq’s interoperability enhances Silencio’s ability to connect with other decentralized networks, expanding the value and applications of the data collected.
By leveraging peaq’s distributed infrastructure, Silencio can collect data anonymously, removing personal identifiers while maintaining the integrity and value of the data. This approach respects user privacy, enables aggregated, anonymized data commercialization, and ensures that all parties are protected and informed.
