Eoin King is a preeminent environmental acoustics expert specializing in strategic noise mapping and action planning. He holds a BAI in Mechanical Engineering, a Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics, and a PhD in Environmental Acoustics.

Eoin’s illustrious career includes positions on the European Commission’s Noise Expert Group and the Board of the Institute of Noise Control. As the Managing Editor of Noise/New International, he has contributed to over 70 peer-reviewed academic journal publications. Eoin also served on the Board of Directors of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering of the USA (INCE USA) from 2017–2021. During that time, he demonstrated his expertise by developing strategic noise maps for approximately 4,000 km of major roads in Ireland by Phase II of EU Directive 2002/49/EC.

In addition to his extensive professional accomplishments, Eoin held the prestigious role of Technical Chair of NOISE CON 2016, further solidifying his reputation as a leading authority in environmental acoustics.

Prof. Enda Murphy is Professor at University College Dublin, Ireland. His research interests centre on environmental noise modelling, mapping, and noise-health relationships having more than 20 years experience in noise mapping and modelling research. Prof. Murphy was technical advisor and co-author for the European Parliament’s Towards a Comprehensive Noise Strategy (2012) produced for the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Department. He was also appointed Scientific Advisor on the Future Brief: Noise Abatement Approaches (2017) document produced for the European Commission Directorate-General for Environment. He is currently the Co-PI (2022-2-24) on a project for Transport Infrastructure Ireland to develop a revised noise design standard for all new national roads in Ireland – the ANITA project. He is author/co-author of more than 110 academic journal papers, book chapters, conference papers and reports and is co-author of two books. One of those books is entitled Environmental Noise Pollution: Noise Mapping, Public Health and Policy (Elsevier) which has recently been published as a second edition (2022). In addition, he has published more than 45 peer reviewed papers specifically on environmental noise issues and strategic noise mapping specifically.
